Afghan Hound

The Afghan Hound has its origins from Middle Eastern Sighthounds with roots that date back to the Egyptian Pharaohs. Most of these dogs were used by nomadic tribes in order to hunt the ground for gazelles, hare, and other small animals to bring back for food. Affenpinscher (Toy Group)

Mastiff Dogs The Basics

With a history of domestication stretching back more than two millennia, the Mastiff dog has been a popular breed since the days of the Roman Empire and likely even longer than this. The Romans were in fact quite fond of these dogs – the Emperor Julius Caesars favorite pet was reputedly a Mastiff and they were widely trained for the hunt and for guard duty. The Mastiff was introduced to Britain with the Roman occupation of the British Isles and these dogs were the ancestors of the English Mastiff. Mastiffs were also popular with the Carthaginian general Hannibal, who brought Mastiffs with him as he crossed the Alps. The breed was also known in Asia, where Kublai Khan reportedly kept thousands of Mastiffs.

One of the mysterious dog breeds in the world is probably the famous Shetland Sheepdog or simply known as the Sheltie. Its direct ancestor is undefined and the reason behind its temperament is vague but whats certain is the fact that the Sheltie first appeared in the rocky terrains of Shetland Island of Scotland. Twenty years ago, the hybrid Puggle came in to being and since then its popularity rose to unexpected heights that it is now known today as the most famous of the hybrids. The Puggle is the result of intermixing a female beagle and a male pug and this was done during the 1980’s when the US was focused on developing new breeds of dogs.
