The Honest Kitchen to Donate Pet Food to Organizations Housing Animals Displaced by Southern California Wildfires

The Honest Kitchen, Inc, makers of all-natural human grade pet products, will donate quantities of pet food to Southern California shelters and animal rescue organizations helping to care for pets who have been displaced by the wildfires currently blazing in the region. The batch of fresh food was made using white potatoes in place of the recipes sweet potatoes so it will not be added to stores shelves. Saving Pets Lives

There are overcrowded animals shelters across the country, where animals face the threat of being euthanized. But one non-profit rescue organization is flying pets to new homes. As soon as the plane touched down, it wasn’t hard to see the excitement on the other passengers faces. 23 dogs, cats and even puppies traveled over 500 miles from Atlanta, Georgia, where they were rescued from high-kill shelters.

Pilots N Paws

Lenny—a small, black Pekingese mix dog—arrived at Murray County Shelter in Chatsworth, Ga., with matted fur and signs of neglect. He had fleas, ticks, and heartworms, and after a few days at the shelter, he was slated to be on the “kill list.” But Lenny was saved from the list when a pilot brought him to a rescue group that nursed him back to health and found him a home in Hamburg, N.Y.

Those of you who want a Golden Retriever but aren’t ready to go through the trials and tribulations of a puppy, should look into adopting an older Golden. Older Golden Retrievers are mature, and prove to be great in homes where they need to spend a quality amount of time by themselves. They are a very adjustable breed, being good tempered. No matter how old the Golden may be, he will quickly become a valued member of your family in little to no time at all.

German Shepherds are not only beautiful, but they are also intelligent, loyal and easy to find in many countries of the world. Unfortunately, they are not the right breed of dog for everyone. Each year, thousands of German Shepherds (also known as Alsatians) and German Shepherd mixes are abandoned or surrendered to animal shelters. Most of these dogs wind up there through no fault of their own. Many people are not aware of the significant time and money investment needed to care for German Shepherds.
