Domestic cats are cute creatures that can look after of themselves, but if you were to have one as a pet, you should know particular things about how to take care of domestic cat. If you get the cat at its infancy, the domestic cat grows up in a familiar surroundings and gets used to b e controlled by other pet, and this results in fewer inter-pet rivalry.

Fortunately, kitties are already litter trained when they are sold to new keepers. This means that the only undertaking left for you to do is to train it where to go when they have to go to the toilet. You might be trailed wherever you go, as kittens follow their owners all the time, and you might find the cat climbing up the kitchen worktop. Since this is unhealthy, particularly if you have food lying there, so to prevent this, keep a bottle of water handy and squirt some on its face.

To keep its claws sharp and cut, the domestic cat needs a scratching post, which you need to retain. If you find that they are scratch elsewhere, use the strategy of splashing their face with water. Over and above providing them with the necessary scratching post, you ought to keep them nails well trimmed down, as this would prevent them from scratch the furniture or harming somebody in the house. Pressing down their claws on the floor can do this, so that the claws are extended which makes trimming easy. Claw checking must be done as a matter of routine so that they are also used to the procedure as they age. Usually kitties do not shed hair as much as the older domestic cats, but you as the keeper, must comb them on a regular basis, so that it falls under a routine, be it long or short hair.

Never give your cat rubbish food to eat since to ensure their health, you must get great quality food easily found at pet stores. In case you are uninformed about the brand of the food which is richest in vitamins and minerals, look for help from your veterinarian in terms of recommendations. Make sure that your domestic cat has a good amount of clean water to drink, which should be kept in a bowl, so that they never get dehydrated. Take your kitten to the veterinarian for regular inoculations and though they get a few when young, remember their annual regimen, as they get older. Be sure to keep a record of the injections so this can be shown to the veterinarian. If you keep a big domestic cat, let them get adjusted to the new environment on their own. Pets fighting among themselves is quite normal and there is no cause for concern, but if things go to the extreme, you might have to part them and keep them in confinement in separate rooms.

You also need to properly guide and train an older cat, so that it shows disciplined behavior. This is the reason why wateris convenient, as squirting it on them tells them that they have done something wrong, and you do not have to get physical with them. House cats should always be kept indoors because research has shown that this extends their life for over ten years since going outside puts them at risk of being hit by an automobile or contaminated with a virus from stray animals.

This is the reason why stray cats, which live out-of-doors live only for about a couple of years. It won’t take much to know how to look after of your cat just carry out some research so you will be better able to look after your familiar and so both of you will enjoy each other’s company for a long time.
